WROXETER ROMAN CITY

Wroxeter was the capital of the Roman province Britannia Secunda, and in its prime was the fourth largest city in Britain covering an area of 180 acres. Only a small part of it has been excavated.

The wall in the picture is called "The Old Work", and once formed part of a large four-roomed building of unknown purpose. It is nearly 7ft thick.
